Honoring the Women Who Keep Lagos Moving
One of Spotlight Africa’s flagship projects focused on the women of LAWMA sanitation workers responsible for keeping Lagos clean, yet often unseen, underpaid, and undervalued.
In partnership with corporate stakeholders including Sterling Bank, we organized a special community intervention for LAWMA women that included:
- Distribution of new work overalls
- Direct financial support
- A festive end-of-year celebration
- Welfare gifts and recognition
This initiative was not charity.
It was dignity in action.
For many of these women, it was the first time their work had been publicly acknowledged and honored.
